Potsdam (dpa / bb) - With a memorial service, the city of Potsdam and the diaconal institution Oberlinhaus want to remember the victims of the violence in a dormitory for people with disabilities today (6 p.m.).

In addition to relatives of the victims and residents of the home, Potsdam citizens are invited to the service in the Nikolaikirche after prior registration, the city announced on Wednesday.

At 7 p.m., the bells of all Potsdam churches are to ring in memory of the victims.

In addition to Lord Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) and the Theological Director of the Oberlinhaus, Matthias Fichtmüller, Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) and the Federal Commissioner for the Issues of People with Disabilities, Jürgen Dusel, also want to participate in the commemoration.

The visit to the church is limited to 140 places due to the corona restrictions.

In front of the Nikolaikirche there is the possibility to sign a condolence book.

The service will also be broadcast via live stream.
