Kiel (dpa / lno) - THW Kiel has taken the lead in the handball Bundesliga.

The defending champion prevailed on Thursday with 31:25 (16:12) at HC Erlangen and benefited from the simultaneous 28:28 (15:15) of the previous leader SG Flensburg-Handewitt at Frisch Auf Göppingen.

In the table, both teams are at 47: 5 points.

However, both the better goal difference and the direct comparison gained speak for the «zebras».

The best throwers were Domagoj Duvnjak with seven goals for Kiel and Johannes Sellin with six goals for Erlangen.

The Kielers, who had to do without the Norwegian Sander Sagosen due to an infection, found it very difficult to get into the game.

After a 2-1 lead (3rd), THW coach Filip Jicha's team failed to score for a good seven minutes.

With a 5: 1 run, the hosts moved away to 6: 3 (10th).

As a result, Duvnjak took command and led the North Germans to a four-goal lead until the break.

Even after the break, the Kielers did not give in.

With a double strike, left winger Magnus Landin increased to 21:14 (36th).

Then the THW let the game run down.

The “Zebras” will continue on Sunday (1.30 p.m. / Sky).

The series of five away games in a row ends with the game at Füchsen Berlin.
