Berlin (AP) - Hertha President Werner Gegenbauer has welcomed the end of Jens Lehmann's term of office on the supervisory board of the Berlin Bundesliga club after his irritating message to Dennis Aogo.

"Such statements in no way correspond to the values for which Hertha BSC stands and actively campaigns," said the 70-year-old on Wednesday: "Hertha BSC distances itself from any form of racism."

Shortly before, investor Lars Windhorst had terminated the consultancy contract with ex-national player Lehmann.

This also ended his mandate on the supervisory board of the professional department Hertha BSC GmbH & Co. KGaA.

Lehmann had previously apologized for a WhatsApp message at Aogo.

He had posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp history on Instagram Story.

He had blacked out all the messages that, according to the screenshot, came from Jens Lehmann's cell phone, except for one.

The 34-year-old Aogo had the question outlined in red: "Is Dennis actually your black one?"

The sentence was mistaken with a laughing smiley in front of the question mark.
