Hanover (dpa / lni) - Before the planned opening of tourism in Lower Saxony, the Harz Tourism Association still sees plenty of need for clarification.

The first steps in opening gave hope, but there is still a lot of coordination between the representatives of the industry and the state government, said association spokeswoman Christin Wohlgemuth on Wednesday.

A daily negative Corona rapid test for visiting museums and retailers is a tightening compared to the current regulation.

At the moment you can visit museums in the region by prior arrangement, but without submitting a negative test, said Wohlgemuth.

From next Monday, tourist overnight stays in Lower Saxony outside the Corona hotspots should be possible again - but initially only for residents of the state.

They can then check into hotels, holiday apartments and campsites again; this is coupled with negative rapid tests or proof of vaccination.

For many larger hotels in the Harz, however, according to the association, it is not even possible to restart operations at such short notice.

Many hosts also have to weigh up whether the maximum occupancy of 60 percent is economically rich for them and whether this is even realistic under the restriction to Lower Saxony, said Wohlgemuth.
