Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The municipal utilities Hamburg Wasser and Hamburg Energie will present their annual reports for 2020 on Thursday (10.30 a.m.) and take a look at the current situation.

Among other things, this involves the upcoming merger of Hamburg Energie and Hamburg Wärme.

Both suppliers are to be merged into a single municipal company on January 1, 2022.

Energie Hamburg, currently still under the umbrella of Hamburg Wasser, will be separated from the group for the merger.

The name of the new company is still open.

Hamburg Energie claims that it supplies 150,000 customers exclusively with green electricity, making it the largest provider of renewable energy in the city.

70 percent of consumption by private customers is produced in their own wind and solar power systems.

Heat Hamburg supplies around 500,000 so-called residential units, including industrial and commercial customers as well as housing companies with thousands of households and large buildings such as the Elbphilharmonie.

In total there are around 12,000 direct customers.
