North (dpa / lni) - The easing of tourism promised by the Lower Saxony state government is also occupying the ferry companies on the East Frisian coast.

Several ferry companies want to adjust their timetables with the new Corona regulation at the beginning of the coming week - and in some places also expand it bit by bit.

Between Norddeich, Juist and Norderney, for example, more ferries are expected to be used for the long Ascension weekend, said the spokesman for the shipping company Norden-Frisia, Fred Meyer, on Wednesday: "The demand is increasing, we are already noticing that in the reservations."

However, since the guests from North Rhine-Westphalia, who are important for the Lower Saxony coast, are not allowed to arrive for the time being, the shipping companies want to wait for the exact demand.

"At the moment, that's a look into the crystal ball," said Corina Habben from the shipping company AG EMS in Emden.

Although the Borkum timetable is also being worked on, it can be assumed that reservations will initially be made with reservations.

Because NRW is the most important source region for holidaymakers, said Habben.

The shipping company Baltrum-Linie and the island community of Langeoog also announced changes to their timetables on Wednesday.

There are already rapid test centers at the ferry docks in Norddeich and in Harlesiel, where ferries leave for Wangerooge.

According to AG EMS, a quick test offer is to be set up at the pier of the Borkum ferry in Emden in the coming days.
