Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The trainer Daniel Thioune on leave has described it as legitimate that the leadership of the second division soccer team Hamburger SV has released him and wants to set another impulse.

“Nevertheless, it surprised me on Sunday when I was informed about it,” said the 46-year-old coach to the “Hamburger Abendblatt” (Thursday).

Regarding the reasons that sports director Jonas Boldt had given for the separation, Thioune said: "The relationship between the team and the coaching team was intact, and if there had been a long distance, a long-term good season would not have been possible." Boldt, meanwhile, had complained that Thioune's clear leadership had "fallen by the wayside" and also emphasized: "In the end, there was no longer any conviction that the structure with the team and coach would still work."

Although all three football teachers failed in the three seasons since relegation in 2018 in Hannes Wolf, Dieter Hecking and now Thioune, the 46-year-old does not consider HSV to be untrainable.

«Very clearly: no.

We have shown over long stretches that this team works well, ”said the coach who came from VfL Osnabrück.

“It was a great honor and privilege for me to be HSV coach, even if the end is unsatisfactory for me.

That has nothing to do with the fact that the team should be untrainable, ”said Thioune, who will return to his home in Osnabrück with his family.
