Hanover (dpa) - The automotive supplier Continental wants to announce further details on the course of business in the first quarter on Thursday.

According to preliminary data, the situation has recently stabilized again.

Last year, like many other companies in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries, Conti was caught in the downward spiral of the Corona crisis.

There has been an upward trend recently, especially in tires and plastics technology.

Information on the net result and possibly an updated outlook are now expected.

The total turnover of the Dax group from Hanover increased from 9.9 billion euros in the same quarter of the previous year to 10.3 billion euros.

The earnings situation also improved: the profit margin before interest and taxes adjusted for special items was 8.1 percent.

At the beginning of last year, Continental kept an average of only 4.40 cents of every euro in sales as operating profit in the till.

The drive technology for combustion and electric vehicles that has been separated from the group also grew, with sales growing by 12.8 percent on an adjusted basis in the first quarter of the year.

The entire business area will be spun off into the Vitesco company in September.
