While the SCAF, the fighter aircraft of the future, has had a difficult genesis, this structuring project for defense Europe still manages to overcome obstacles, even those which sometimes seemed almost insurmountable.

There was first this showdown a few weeks ago between Dassault Aviation, the most advanced company in the design of combat aircraft, and Airbus, more precisely Airbus Germany and Airbus Spain.

Defining a division of tasks between industrialists was tricky.

Once this step had been taken, it remained for the three States, Germany, France and Spain to validate this agreement reached between industrialists.

It is now done: it is agreed that the participants in the program draw up a list of the intellectual property rights of the future combat aircraft by mid-May.

The list will indicate the rights open to all and those that will remain within the companies concerned.

But before the first euro is committed, the program must still pass under the caudine forks of the Bundestag, the essential German Parliament across the Rhine.

And time is running out since the vote must necessarily take place before the next German elections which could reshuffle the political cards in Germany.
