Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate state government is not planning any special vaccination campaigns for mobile teams in special districts.

"Health care offers should be accessible to everyone and must not depend on social origin," said the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, Stefanie Schneider, of the German Press Agency in Mainz.

The Federal Vaccination Ordinance takes this principle into account and Rhineland-Palatinate implements it.

The SPD-led ministry is open to the proposal of SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz.

According to him, municipalities and states should develop strategies to vaccinate people in hot spots more quickly and at a lower threshold.

"Nobody benefits if the posh suburbs are vaccinated, but the pandemic continues to rage in the socially disadvantaged areas," Scholz said.

"The prerequisite would be that the progress of the vaccinations of the prioritized population groups allows this and that sufficient suitable vaccines are available," said Ministry spokeswoman Schneider.

The vaccinations organized by the state currently focus on the prioritization groups.

This also includes the planned vaccination of people in homeless and initial reception facilities as well as in women's shelters, the penal system and psychiatric day care with the vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.

The vaccinations are to begin in the next few days under the direction of the German Red Cross, for example in the detention facility for persons obliged to leave the country in Ingelheim.

First of all, however, information must still be provided in several languages, according to the Supervision and Service Directorate (ADD) in Trier.
