May 05, 2021 Defense attorney for Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer convicted of the murder of George Floyd, which led to the Black Lives Matter protest movement, has called for a retrial claiming the jury's misconduct. This was written by several US media including the Associated Press.

According to Chauvin's defense attorney, the court abused its discretion. The lawyer called for an impeachment hearing of the verdict due to jury misconduct, according to a document filed yesterday.

Derek Chauvin was convicted last month of unintentional second degree murder, third degree murder and second degree manslaughter for George Floyd's death on May 25, 2020. Evidence at trial showed that Chauvin pressed the knee against Floyd's neck for 9 and a half minutes, while the arrested, motionless, uselessly claimed that he could not breathe.
