Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The state of Baden-Württemberg wants to give disadvantaged groups easier access to vaccinations against the corona virus.

"The figures show that we have so far reached certain groups very well among those eligible for vaccination, others not or almost not," said the head of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Uwe Lahl, on Tuesday.

The vaccination campaign often bypasses socially disadvantaged people.

As early as this Wednesday, Minister of Social Affairs Manne Lucha (Greens) wants to meet with migrant associations and representatives of religious communities.

The Lord Mayor of Mannheim, Peter Kurz (SPD), had previously reported that certain parts of the city had the highest infection rates, but at the same time had vaccination rates three times lower.

Specifically, it is about the districts in which people with low incomes, in cramped living conditions or without the opportunity to work from home live.

In Mannheim, people in the focal point district of Hochstätt are currently being vaccinated by mobile vaccination teams as part of a model project.

For the first time, the ministry also published vaccination quotas for urban and rural districts based on the citizens' places of residence.

These quotas - not counting vaccinations by general practitioners - are therefore particularly high in university towns, for example.

In cities, where there is more unemployment and a lower level of education, the opposite is the case.
