Erfurt (dpa) - Upper division soccer club Rot-Weiß Erfurt has had success with its lawsuit against the decision for the Thuringia Cup.

This was announced by the Thuringian Football Association (TFV).

Erfurt and FC An der Fahner Höhe had sued the sports court against the decision that the final of the state cup should be played on May 29 between the regional league clubs FC Carl Zeiss Jena and ZFC Meuselwitz.

All other 30 clubs should be settled with 2000 euros each.

This decision is void, all 32 teams are back in competition.

“The fact is that we have to find a different shape in the national cup, whatever it looks like. We have already discussed various options in advance, including the lottery procedure, ”said TFV President Udo Penßler-Beyer on Wednesday. The TFV will only decide on an objection once the written judgment has been received. If, however, there is no game on the "final day of the amateurs", this will result in financial losses. That would also affect the severance pay for the clubs.

Ultimately, the TFV stumbled across a bureaucratic lapse.

For the 2019/20 season there was a clause that the board of directors can determine the evaluation modalities in the event of a cancellation.

However, this was not carried forward for the 2020/21 season.

«However, we have to make formal mistakes on the flag with no ifs or buts.

He should have been recognized in advance, »said Penßler-Beyer.
