05 May 2021 "This is the first time we have heard a date after so many vague announcements so there is great optimism and positivity. We thank the Prime Minister for the attention he has shown towards our sector, especially recognizing its economic and employment value. We finally feel we are protagonists of the country's restart ". This is how Berbabò Bocca, president of Federalberghi, comments on the novelty announced by Mario Draghi to relaunch tourism, interviewed by Repubblica. Draghi's move anticipates that of the EU. He did the right thing? "Certainly - replies Bocca - in this way we bridge a European gap. In fact, for a month already Greece has said that it would not wait for Europe and welcome vaccinated people and tourists in possession of a negative buffer. The same is Spain, which already filled its islands in spring. We risked being at a disadvantage compared to our main tourist competitors in the Mediterranean. Disadvantage that will be canceled from mid-May ".

Are you satisfied with the May 16th date for the pass or is it late? "I think - says Bocca - it's an important turnaround. A hotel is not a shop that already has customers the day after it reopens. We need days to take reservations. Now, with a certain date, we can plan in time for the summer season, welcoming foreign tourists who are an essential source for us ".
