Erfurt (dpa / th) - The corona pandemic has led to a mixed mood in many parts of the Thuringian economy.

Many companies are still a long way from normal business activity, said the general manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Erfurt, Dr.

Cornelia Haase-Lerch, according to a message from Tuesday.

Above all, the companies needed a reliable perspective and support when starting up again.

Nevertheless: "When looking at the coming months, thanks to the ongoing vaccination campaign, cautious optimism is returning," said Haase-Lerch. "Falling infection numbers and, hopefully, the associated relaxation of the restriction measures should, as in the past year, provide catch-up effects and push the economic recovery."

Haase-Lerche's assessment was based on an economic survey by the IHK Erfurt among 800 companies in northern, central and western Thuringia.

Accordingly, a large part of the stationary retail trade, in which most shops have to remain closed, assess the current situation as bad.

In the hospitality industry, the situation is largely assessed as catastrophic, it said.

"The restaurateurs and hoteliers are placing some hope in the upcoming summer season and possible catch-up effects."

On the other hand, there was more positive feedback from industrial companies.

A majority of the companies rate their current situation according to the information as good or satisfactory, with mostly increasing or at least constant incoming orders.
