The situation with the incidence of coronavirus in Russia remains tense, therefore decisions regarding the mitigation of the existing restrictive measures should be taken solely based on the epidemiological situation in a particular constituent entity of the Federation.

The head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko drew attention to this during a meeting with the regions.

“Today it is important for us to continue working on the formation of collective immunity to the pathogen, to actively develop vaccination of citizens with a mandatory focus on high-risk groups of complicated COVID-19.

Elderly citizens and patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus have been and remain our top priority, ”the minister emphasized.

“We need to make the vaccination process as convenient as possible for these population groups.

For example, vaccinations should be given before discharging high-risk patients from inpatient care.

In this case, vaccination should be voluntary and ensure continuity - three weeks after the first vaccination in the hospital, the patient should be invited to receive the second injection at the outpatient unit at the place of residence, ”added Murashko.

In turn, other meeting participants noted that the vaccination campaign continues during the May holidays and non-working days, which allows Russians to receive the vaccine at the most convenient time for them.

Over the past day, 7,770 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Russia (this is at least since September 26, 2020), 6,755 people have recovered, and 337 patients have died from complications that developed against the background of COVID-19 and concomitant diseases.

In total, 4,839,514 cases have been identified in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 4,457,044 people recovered, 111,535 died.

270,935 cases remain active.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over the entire observation period, more than 130.2 million laboratory tests were carried out for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, 153 thousand of which were in the last 24 hours.

About 505 thousand people remain under medical supervision.

According to the headquarters, over the past day, no increase in new cases of coronavirus has been detected in the Jewish Autonomous Region, the Nenets and Chukotka Autonomous Districts.

An increase of 0.01% was recorded in the Republics of Altai and Tuva, as well as in the Sakhalin Oblast;

0.02% - in the Magadan region.

In Moscow, 2050 new cases of coronavirus have been identified.

According to the headquarters, 1,070 people were hospitalized, 61 patients died.

In the Moscow region, 625 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed per day.

According to the regional authorities, more than 830 thousand people have already been vaccinated against coronavirus there.

“More than 830 thousand people in the Moscow region have been vaccinated against coronavirus, 40% of them are residents over 60 years old.

Vaccinations can be done in clinics, feldsher-obstetric points, shopping centers.

During all the May holidays, mobile complexes also operate in SNT and DNT - in total, this month, about 1.3 thousand visits are planned there, ”the press service of the Governor and the Government of the Moscow Region said.

In the meantime, Rospotrebnadzor recommended that Russians spend the May holidays outside the city: "Given the continued risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection, rest outside the city or in the country is a good solution, since walking and communicating with the family in the open air do not carry a significant risk of infection."

Along with this, the department recalled that a large crowd of people even outdoors carries a potential danger of illness, and frequent visits to guests are associated with a significant increase in the risk of infection.

“In this regard, it is worth thinking about limiting contacts.

If you do decide to invite guests, do not forget to wear a mask.

In addition, it is important to wear a mask in all public places, especially where it is difficult to maintain social distance, in shops and in public transport, ”the Rospotrebnadzor noted.

Among other things, the department explained that personal protective equipment is not capable of leading to heatstroke.

The message says that the mask cannot significantly disrupt the heat exchange of a person.

However, the importance of constantly changing masks as they are used is noted.

"In hot weather, masks need to be changed more often, as they become wet faster, the protective layer of the product breaks down and the effectiveness decreases," the Rospotrebnadzor noted.

EpiVacCorona and Indian strain

Against the background of the difficult situation observed in India with the spread of coronavirus, which in particular is associated with the so-called Indian strain of the disease, the Russian center "Vector", which developed the "EpiVacCorona" vaccine, intends to test the effectiveness of the drug against this SARS-CoV-2 mutation.

According to the deputy head of the center, Tatyana Nepomnyashchikh, the organization expects to receive a sample for its study.

As the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said at the end of April, the Russian Federation requested a sample from the Indian side.

“The sera of those who have been ill effectively neutralize both the reference strain and the British version.

When we receive an Indian strain, the same experiments will be carried out with it, ”Nepomnyashchikh said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.

The creators of the first Russian vaccine against coronavirus, Sputnik V, previously expressed confidence that the drug is able to withstand the Indian strain of SARS-CoV-2.

Later, the Indian side, which received a batch of Sputnik V vaccine, also expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the drug.
