In 2020, Bilprovningen inspected approximately 28,000 caravans.

In total, three out of ten caravans were rejected (28.7 percent).

Stockholm County had the highest proportion of rejected caravans with 43.3 per cent.

Gotland County had the lowest percentage of failures with 20 percent.

- Many caravans stand still in a fixed place for large parts of the year, so it is good if you try to make a small turn before the inspection, says Mikael Halldin, station manager at Bilprovningen in Östergötland.

Most common with brake faults

In Östergötland, 29.5% of the caravans failed, where 18.6% failed with demands for follow-up inspection.

Defects in the brakes were the most common fault among caravans.

- Yes, it is above all brakes and lighting that many fail at.

Many times it is about carelessness from the owners and it is easy to walk around the caravan and check the lighting yourself, so you avoid unnecessary remarks, says Mikael Halldin.

When it comes to motorhomes, the most common shortcomings are faults in components of the communication system such as headlights and headlights.

In Östergötland County, 31.7% of motorhomes were rejected last year, where 11.7% failed with demands for follow-up inspections.
