There has been a lack of technical evidence that binds the man to the crime scene.

The prosecutors have therefore placed great focus on a ring that the murdered woman was wearing when she was found and which had traces of the man's DNA.

- This is the investigation's strongest evidence, says Åsa Hiding, prosecutor, during the plea.

Did not hold in the district court

Örebro District Court ruled that the traces do not necessarily bind the man to the murder scene because he had an infidelity affair with the woman and his DNA may have ended up on the ring at another time.

The prosecutors had therefore created a timeline of the woman's activities in the days before the murder.

Among other things, they were able to show pictures from a surveillance camera where the woman hugged relatives at a party and pointed out that their DNA could not be found on the ring.

Denies crime

The man accused of murder was sitting in the courtroom wearing a mouth guard.

He looked focused on the pictures that the prosecutors projected on the wall and sometimes took notes on a computer.

He has always denied crime.

The trial is set to end tomorrow.
