Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - If the number of corona infections continues to fall, alternating classes could soon be offered again at schools in many cities and districts of Baden-Württemberg.

Schools could revert to this model of face-to-face and distance learning if the seven-day incidence in their city or district is below the incidence value of 165 for five consecutive working days, the Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday.

Schools would then also have a transition period of up to three days.

"You can use this if you cannot return to alternate classes immediately after the deadline for organizational reasons," says a statement from the ministry.

According to federal law, face-to-face teaching is usually only possible alternately if the incidence exceeds 100 for three days in a row. Consistent face-to-face teaching for individual classes or study groups is not possible, according to the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. However, neither the proportion of distance learning nor the frequency with which it is necessary to switch between distance and face-to-face teaching is specified. The aim is to offer as much classroom teaching as possible.

The seven-day incidence has recently decreased both nationwide and in Baden-Württemberg.

On Tuesday, according to the Robert Koch Institute (as of 5:08 a.m.), it was still 141.4, in Baden-Württemberg, according to the State Health Office, it was even 173.1 (as of Monday, 4:00 p.m.).

On Monday, more than half of the districts and cities exceeded the value of 165. If this threshold is exceeded three days in a row, the schools must close according to the federal emergency brake.
