Berlin (dpa / bb) - In Berlin's social hot spots, vaccinations should go faster.

In the course of the next week, 10,000 vaccine doses are to be delivered to district centers in socially disadvantaged areas or quarters in difficult living situations, as Berlin's governing mayor, Michael Müller, announced on Tuesday after the Senate meeting.

"There is something to be done," said the SPD politician.

Such vaccination offers in the neighborhood and on site are an important further step forward.

They meant a high level of health protection for the corresponding population groups.

Müller pointed out that vaccination is still not going as quickly as desired: "It is an incredibly difficult situation because we still have too little vaccine," said the Governing Mayor.

The shortage is no longer as dramatic as it was a few weeks ago.

"But it's still a shortage that we manage."

It is not possible to meet every vaccination request at the moment.
