Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The Frankfurt professor Viola Hach-Wunderle was honored on Tuesday with the highest award of the German medical profession, the Paracelsus Medal.

The State Medical Association of Hesse announced that she was receiving the honor for her high level of commitment to public health.

The 67-year-old specialist in internal medicine has been working in the Frankfurt Northwest Hospital since 2003, and has been a volunteer speaker at the Academy for Medical Training of the State Medical Association of Hesse for almost 40 years.

The German Medical Association awards this undoped award to several doctors every year, and this year Professor Hach-Wunderle is the only winner from Hesse.
