Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The German professional cyclist and former Tour de France fourth Emanuel Buchmann has extended his contract with the Bora-hansgrohe cycling team on a long-term basis.

The 28-year-old Ravensburger and the team from Raubling in Upper Bavaria want to work together by the end of 2024, announced Bora-hansgrohe.

“I am pleased that we are at least completing the ten years with this.

But seriously, Bora-hansgrohe is still the perfect team for me, ”said Buchmann.

You can tell whether such a partnership works “always in difficult times, not when things are going well anyway”.

Team manager Ralph Denk is happy to have reached a long-term agreement with his class driver.

«Emanuel has been a constant in our team since 2015.

He has improved from year to year because he's an incredibly meticulous worker, "said Denk.

Buchmann had "the best years still ahead of him," speculated the functionary.

The cycling lightweight once again expressed “the great common goal” of landing on the podium once at the tour.

It will not be in 2021, because Buchmann is scheduled for the Giro d'Italia, which starts this weekend, and not for the world's largest cycle race in France.

“I hope that the route of the tour will suit his abilities a little better again next year, then we'll be targeting the tour podium again,” said Denk.
