Rostock (dpa / mv) - After Bavaria's decision to open the regions with low corona infection rates to tourism from May 21, the pressure in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania holiday industry is also increasing.

More and more regions and countries with which the northeast is competing for holiday guests are giving clear opening goals, as the managing director of the regional tourism association, Tobias Woitendorf, told the dpa on Tuesday.

But the pressure also comes from within: the companies need clarity for their company organization and personnel planning.

"We now have to act specifically," stressed Woitendorf.

After the end of the lockdown, a complex opening of tourism must follow.

The corresponding recommendation for action from the industry is available.

Among other things, this provides for tests to be carried out by holidaymakers before entering the country.

The Tourism Task Force meets in Schwerin on Wednesday.

After a meeting of the Schwerin cabinet on Tuesday, Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) said that fully vaccinated day trippers and second home owners from other federal states are allowed to re-enter.

Tourist overnight stays, for example in hotels, guest houses, holiday apartments or on campsites are still prohibited.

According to Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), hotels, holiday apartments and campsites can reopen in Bavarian circles with a stable seven-day incidence of less than 100.

The Robert Koch Institute had reported a seven-day incidence of 140.0 for the Free State on Tuesday morning.

That of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was lower: 119.8.
