Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The outgoing green-black state government said goodbye on Tuesday without much fanfare.

After five years in office, the cabinet of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) met again in presence in the New Palace in Stuttgart despite Corona.

All participants had to be tested for the virus beforehand.

It was the last meeting for a number of members of the government because they will certainly not be part of the new green-black cabinet.

Finance Minister Edith Sitzmann and her environmental colleague Franz Untersteller (both Greens) announced their withdrawal after the end of the legislative period for personal reasons.

A little later, when asked how he felt about saying goodbye, Kretschmann said: "I found it - how should I put it - a bit depressing that you have to say goodbye so narrowly."

Someone like Untersteller, who was environment minister for ten years and is valued nationwide as an expert, only to say goodbye in such a small circle, "that hurts."

He will think about something to publicly acknowledge the ministers' performance after the corona pandemic.

Gisela Erler, State Councilor for Citizen Participation, whom he knew from the time the Greens were founded, was unable to attend the meeting.

"That bothered me a lot," said Kretschmann.

Sitzmann had "totally kept his back" in the first parliamentary term as head of the parliamentary group.

The current group leader Andreas Schwarz thinks the same.

"That is important for good governance."

Kretschmann recalled that the former Prime Minister Günther Oettinger had at some point looked for something else because of the "attrition" tactics of the then parliamentary group chairman Stefan Mappus and went to Brussels as EU Commissioner.

Kretschmann also had a few warm words for Education Minister Susanne Eisenmann, who had announced her departure after her failure as the CDU top candidate.

"That was a valued colleague," said the green.

Eisenmann had an excellent start in office and they worked well together at least in the first half of the legislature.

In the coming week Kretschmann wants to be elected head of government for the third time.

Some ministers from the old troop are likely to be there again.

With the Greens, Theresia Bauer (science), Winfried Hermann (traffic) and Manne Lucha (social affairs) are considered to be set.

At the CDU, CDU country chief Thomas Strobl will remain Minister of the Interior and Peter Hauk Minister of Agriculture.
