Hagen (dpa / lnw) - Presence of mind, a witness stopped the ghost drive of a 70-year-old by pulling the key from the ignition lock after the collision with a curb.
As the Dortmund police reported on Tuesday, the 70-year-old first drove into a parked car in Hagen on Monday evening and then ended up driving the wrong way onto the A46.
There he collided sideways with a bus.
A witness (43) tried to brake the car and warned other road users.
Finally, the wrong-way driver turned around on the autobahn and took the next exit.
The 43-year-old followed him.
When the 70-year-old hit a curb, the witness took the chance and withdrew the key.
According to the police, the 70-year-old does not have a driver's license.
An alcohol test turned out negative.
As a precaution, the man came to a hospital.
