Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The new CDU parliamentary group leader Manuel Hagel has indicated that his predecessor Wolfgang Reinhart will take on a leading role in the new green-black coalition.

"We are also pleased that Wolfgang Reinhart will remain part of our team here," said Hagel on Tuesday in Stuttgart.

The 65-year-old Reinhart had vacated his post in the parliamentary group for hail and, according to reports, wants to become a minister.

Reinhart himself said to the next state government: "It will be a team with young foxes and old hands."

The ex-parliamentary group leader is acted as Minister of Justice.

Hagel was happy about the vote of confidence in the parliamentary group election.

"We have succeeded in something that many did not think we could do," said the 33-year-old, who is also the CDU general secretary.

There is no split, but the transition has been made noiseless.

"We opened a new chapter today."

Hagel said to the Green coalition partner that the CDU parliamentary group's contribution would be “reliability and stability”.

He would like a parliamentary group that is “self-confident but never arrogant”.

It is important “that we do not look for tomorrow in yesterday”.
