Bad Kreuznach (dpa / lrs) - The Dehoga Rhineland-Palatinate calls for a “binding plan” for opening up the hotel and catering business from a stable incidence of less than 100. A number of cities and districts have already fallen well below this mark, it is said in a message from Dehoga on Tuesday.

The state government must change its ordinance at short notice so that the hospitality businesses can reopen to tourism before the holidays in May.

The nationwide incidence of corona infections had previously dropped to its lowest level in more than three weeks.

The state investigation office determined on Tuesday a nationwide value of 113.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

It is about the economic existence of the 13,500 host families and 150,000 employees, it says in the message.

"Many of us are at the end of our tether: financially, physically and mentally," said Dehoga President Gereon Haumann.

"The hotel and catering industry are in danger of collapsing in the second lockdown within a year, which has now lasted six months."

The situation is "catastrophic".

And: At the beginning of the Whitsun holidays on May 21, regional tourism should also be possible again: In districts and urban districts with stable numbers of less than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, hotels, holiday apartments and campsites will be allowed to reopen.

The government of Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) decided on Tuesday.

In Saxony, too, an opening of outdoor catering is planned from May 10th with a stable incidence below 100, but currently all Saxon regions are above this value.
