In Burkina Faso at least thirty people, civilians, were killed on Monday, May 3, in the attack on the cultivation hamlet of Kodyel, in the department of Foutouri, about 145 km from Fada Ngourma in the eastern region.
Unidentified armed men invaded the village very early yesterday morning and attacked the populations, despite the intervention of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland, the civilian auxiliaries of the armed forces.
Result: at least 30 dead.
Houses and attics were set on fire.

The attackers broke into the cultivation hamlet of Kodyel around 5 a.m. on Monday. According to testimonies collected by security sources on the spot, they were about 300 people and the attack two hours.

They surrounded the village and massacred almost all the men
" explains a witness cited by our source. Only women and children were spared. The exact number of victims remains unknown for the time being. The governor of the eastern region speaks of "
more than a dozen
" civilians killed. Security sources report at least thirty people, including two Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland. Among the civilians killed is the village chief and several members of his family. There are about twenty injured as well. In addition, a dozen assailants were shot dead by the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland.
These armed men vandalized the health center and emptied the pharmaceutical depot.
They ordered the health workers to leave the village.
Concessions and granaries were set on fire.
According to our sources, shops have been ransacked and livestock taken.
The survivors fled to the commune of Foutouri.
