Flensburg (dpa / lno) - After the discovery of an aerial bomb from the Second World War in Flensburg, the dud is to be defused on Saturday (May 8).

The city announced on Tuesday.

The bomb was discovered during construction work on the Eckener Straße sports field.

The Flensburg fire brigade has already drawn up an operational plan.

This provides for an evacuation of buildings within a radius of 1000 meters to the north and 500 meters to the south.

The evacuation is scheduled to begin at 9.30 a.m.

All apartments in the protected area must be vacated by 11.30 a.m.

Emergency shelters will be provided for those affected during the defusing period.

If everything goes according to plan, the closure can be expected to be lifted in the late afternoon / early evening.
