Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) - A 16-year-old teenager is suspected of having seriously injured his 14-year-old friend with a knife in a Gelsenkirchen allotment garden.

The young person came to a hospital on Monday after the crime and was operated on.

She was not critically injured, said a police spokesman on Tuesday.

The police, alerted by the rescue service, found the 16-year-old with the injured person.

As part of the investigation, he got entangled in contradictions to the crime, the spokesman reported.

During his search, the officers found a jackknife.

He was provisionally arrested.

His mother later picked him up from the station.

Initially, nothing was known about the course of events and the background to the crime.

The police are now hoping for witnesses who saw the crime.
