Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Germany's first Kenya coalition was a success in the opinion of the parties involved.

Despite a lot of initial skepticism, Saxony-Anhalt's state government made up of CDU, SPD and Greens has achieved a lot in the past five years, said Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) on Tuesday in Magdeburg.

The list of projects that the alliance has implemented is “really impressive,” said Haseloff.

"In the history of the state of Saxony-Anhalt it is now really a top performance."

The head of government described a continuation of the coalition after the election as conceivable.

"It is an option that works," Haseloff said of the alliance with the Social Democrats and the Greens.

Haseloff's deputies, Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) and Environment Minister Claudia Dalbert (Greens), were overall satisfied with the performance of the so-called Kenya coalition.

Grimm-Benne emphasized, for example, the government's work against racism and anti-Semitism.

The state government has also expanded the promotion of children and provided more help for people with disabilities.

Dalbert said that Saxony-Anhalt had become “more sustainable and ecological” in recent years.

Numerous climate-friendly projects have been implemented and tons of CO2 have been saved.
