Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - After the child pornography platform "Boystown" was broken up, the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor's Office applied for the extradition of the suspect living in Paraguay.

"We have no experience of how long something like this takes," said a spokeswoman on Tuesday.

According to the Paraguayan public prosecutor's office, she wants to charge the man with child pornography, but the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt is not aware of this.

An international arrest warrant from the Frankfurt am Main District Court is available for the suspect, on the basis of which the German is to be extradited to the Main metropolis.

He was arrested at the request of the German law enforcement authorities.

«Boystown» is said to have had more than 400,000 members and was internationally oriented. The shared image and video recordings are also said to have included recordings of the most serious sexual abuse of young children.

"He is now being interrogated, has been given a public defender and we are going to charge him with child pornography," said the Paraguayan prosecutor Irma Llano.

The 58-year-old suspect is wanted not only in Germany, but also in the USA, Great Britain and Australia.

He entered Paraguay in 2010, has no Paraguayan papers and has been illegally in the country since entering the country.

"We are dealing with a very dangerous person," Llano reported.

He has "a history of child abuse and child pornography" in Germany.

According to information from the Frankfurt authority, the man, who was born in northern Germany, has no criminal record.

"When we arrested him, he was sitting in front of his computer, he was connected to the deep web and at that moment he was connected to his international network," said a police officer in Paraguay.

According to the assessment of the public prosecutor in the South American country, the arrested person had an important position within the network.

He managed the site and decided who could access and share the content.

According to the German authorities, the man is one of the administrators of the Darknet platform.

Three other suspected gang members were arrested in Germany.
