Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In North Rhine-Westphalia, more homeless people were vaccinated against Corona on Monday.

In Düsseldorf, residents of a homeless aid facility received a vaccination with the vaccine from the Johnson & Johnson company.

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia currently wants to use this vaccine primarily for homeless people because the preparation only needs to be administered once for full vaccination protection.

The State Working Group on Free Welfare Care assumes that a total of around 60,000 homeless people can be vaccinated in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The vaccinations had started in mid-April.

The spokesman for the specialist committee at risk, Andreas Sellner, estimates that around ten percent have been vaccinated so far.

He hopes that all homeless people in North Rhine-Westphalia will be vaccinated by mid-May at the latest.

How many cities were vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Monday was initially not known.

According to the NRW Ministry of Health, a delivery of 40,800 vaccine doses reached the state warehouse on Monday.

According to a spokeswoman, a total of 5,430 vaccine doses should be delivered to the vaccination centers on Monday and Tuesday.
