Morocco detects the first two cases of the Indian Corona strain

Today, the Moroccan Ministry of Health announced that the Kingdom detected the first two cases of the Indian mutated Corona virus, and that those in contact with the two cases were isolated to avoid the spread of infection.

The statement said, "The two cases and all their contacts were taken care of in accordance with the international and national protocols in effect, with the strengthening of health isolation measures commensurate with the potential risks of the spread of this strain."

The statement indicated that the authorities monitored the two cases in the city of Casablanca.

Morocco banned flights with most countries and maintained a night curfew to combat the spread of the disease.

So far, 511,912 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded and 9,032 deaths.

And the vaccination campaign in Morocco is faster than other countries in the region, as they have given the vaccine so far to five million and one hundred thousand.

And the Indian strain (B.1.617) reached at least 17 countries from Britain, Iran and even Switzerland, which sparked global concerns and pushed many countries to close their borders to those coming from India.
