20 Minutes

details the main changes that will be implemented on the TCL network between June and January 1, 2022.

A helping hand for students and young people in precariousness

As announced several months ago, as of the next academic year in September, students under 28 and young scholarship travelers will be able to use the TCL network at a reduced price. They will have to pay 25 euros per month from now on for the subscription "18-25 years", specifies the Sytral, authority organizing public transport. A significant saving for these small budgets, the rates currently in force being 32.50 euros / month currently. For scholarship students, the price of the monthly “Reduced Solidarity” subscription will be 10 euros, recalls the mixed union in the deliberation submitted to elected officials this Monday morning.

From June, the “Free Solidarity” subscription, created last January for RSA beneficiaries, AAH and ASI beneficiaries, or even asylum seekers, will also be available to young people. benefiting from the Youth Solidarity Income.

A new device recently launched by the Métropole de Lyon.

Good news for schools and families

To strengthen the attractiveness of the TCL “and promote modal shift” (from the car to public transport), specific measures have been devised to meet the needs of families and schoolchildren. From September 1, primary and middle school students will be able to benefit from free tickets for school trips. The youngest educated travelers will also see the amount of their subscription significantly reduced. For "4-10 years", the subscription taken out per month (18.60 euros), more expensive until then than a subscription taken out for the year, will be aligned with the latter and will amount to 9.30 euros per month. Ditto for "11-17 years" for whom, whatever the chosen option (month, unlimited or annual), the price of the subscription will be set at 23.30 euros against 32.50 euros today.

Finally, on January 1, a strong gesture will be made to families or groups of travelers with children. To benefit from the “Family ticket” today, offering the possibility of traveling for 2 and up to 8 people for 6.20 euros (only on certain days), you must necessarily be part of the same family and justify it. To simplify things and make this formula accessible to a greater number of people, the terms and conditions will be reviewed. This ticket will be accessible for a group of two to five people who are not necessarily part of the same family and can be used every day. It will no longer be necessary to establish a supporting card. An adult, accompanied by 1 to 4 minor children, or 2 adults and 1 to 3 minor children can thus travel by bus, metro, trams or funiculars for 6 euros per day.

Plans and subscriptions on the rise

To offset the impact of these various measures on Sytral's budget, estimated at 11.9 million euros over a full year, elected officials voted to increase certain tariffs which are now in force.

On January 1, 2022, 2 hour and evening tickets, TCL en fête and 72 hour tickets will increase by 3% and will be sold for 3.30 euros.

The book of 10 tickets will increase to 18 euros (+ 2.3%) and the book for young people to 15.4 euros (+ 2%), specifies the Sytral.

Monthly subscriptions for 26-64 year olds will amount to 66.40 euros and that for over 65s will increase to 33.20 euros compared to 32.50 euros today.
