Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Dietmar Muscheid (64) has to celebrate his last day of work as head of the trade union federation for Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland because of the corona pandemic at home.

The previous district manager from Ottweiler in Saarland, Susanne Wingertszahn (46), is to be elected as her successor in November.

Muscheid no longer competes for reasons of age.

Born in Neuwied, he was then DGB state chairman for Rhineland-Palatinate for 20 years and also for Saarland for 19 years.

Muscheid is a member of the SPD and an honorary first alderman of the local community of Lörzweiler in the Mainz-Bingen district.

In retirement, in addition to his local political activities, he wants to continue working on his house and get a second Bernese Mountain Dog.
