Berlin (dpa) - The demonstrations on May 1 in Berlin begin this Friday evening, the eve of the holiday.

From 5 p.m. groups on the left and radical left move through Wedding - from Leopoldplatz to Gesundbrunnen S-Bahn station.

The demonstration is entitled “From Crisis to Expropriation”.

2000 participants are registered with the police.

Later in the evening, feminist women's groups run through Kreuzberg with the motto “Take back the night - we take the night back”.

On Saturday there will be a whole series of demonstrations: from the trade union federation DGB in the morning in Mitte to opponents of corona rules at noon in Lichtenberg, a satire and fun demonstration in the afternoon in Grunewald to the usual large left-wing radical demonstration in the evening in Neukölln and Kreuzberg.

More than 5000 police officers are on duty throughout the day.

The parties on Walpurgis Night and the street festivals are canceled as they were a year ago due to the corona pandemic.

During the demonstrations, all participants must wear face masks and keep their distance from other people.

The curfew continues to apply from 10 p.m.
