A young man from Marl in the Recklinghausen district confessed to stabbing his neighbor on the night of November 10, 2020.

The act was ordered to him by a voice from a computer game.

In a statement that was read by his defense lawyer on Monday at the start of the trial at the Essen regional court, it said: “The voice told me to do something bad.” He had to see what it would look like when someone died.

According to the indictment, the 20-year-old German broke into his neighbor's apartment and stabbed the already sleeping woman with two kitchen knives.

The 27-year-old had no chance.

Her four-year-old son, who slept in the next room, was also critically injured by numerous knife wounds.

The background to the fact is unclear.

The public prosecutor's office assumes that the 21-year-old has a serious mental disorder.

The charge is murder and attempted murder.
