A group of North Korean defectors said that between the 25th and yesterday (29th), they sprayed 500,000 pieces of warfare against North Korea across the border between the two Koreas. This is the first case since the so-called anti-North Korea warfare ban was enforced last month, so the response of the police and the government is paying attention.

This is reporter Kim A-young.

Free North Korean Movement Association, a group of North Korean defectors, released a video containing the spraying scene, saying that it sprayed the North Korean warfare in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do areas adjacent to the DMZ between the 25th and 29th.

Mr. Sang-Hak Park, the representative of the group, said the amount of spraying was 500,000 flyers to the North, 500 booklets and 5,000 one dollar bills.

Representative Park said that he mobilized 10 large balloons and blown them two times.

[Park Sang-hak/CEO of the Freedom North Korean Movement Association: On the occasion of the 18th North Korea Freedom Week in 2021, we send 500,000 copies of warfare to North Korea to 20 million North Koreans. Let's end the dictatorship of Kim Jong-un's hereditary dictatorship!]

This is the first time that a group of North Korean refugees started spraying leaflets after the so-called warfare ban on North Korea was enforced on the 30th of last month.

First of all, the Ministry of Unification stated that the police and the military are verifying the facts and that it will cooperate closely with related organizations.

[Cha Deok-cheol/Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Unification: I will say once again that this is the law for the lives and safety of the residents of the border area. In accordance with the legislative purpose of this revised law (we will deal with it.)]

The Leaflet Prohibition Act stipulates that if a leaflet is sprayed in the vicinity of the military demarcation line, imprisonment for up to three years and a fine of up to 30 million won can be punished.
