Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - With a demand of 4.5 percent more wages and salaries, the Verdi union is entering into collective bargaining for around 18,000 employees in wholesale and foreign trade in Saxony-Anhalt.

In addition, a basic amount of 45 euros is required, the union announced on Thursday.

The first round of negotiations is scheduled for May 3rd in the trade union building in Magdeburg.

According to the union's ideas, the training allowances should increase by the same amount.

The collective agreement is to be concluded for a term of twelve months.

So that it benefits all employees, employers should be asked, together with the trade union, to apply for the collective bargaining agreements of the Saxony-Anhalt wholesaler to be generally binding.

According to Verdi, companies that have got into financial difficulties due to the corona pandemic want to offer "differentiated collective bargaining solutions to secure future and employment".
