Two years after the death of Steve Maia Caniço, found drowned in the Loire a month after the music festival in 2019 in Nantes, several police officers will be heard by the IGPN announced the Rennes prosecutor.

These officials are concerned by the intervention in question in the disappearance of the young man or the management of public order on the evening of the events.

New hearings in the case of the death of young Steve Maia Caniço, who fell in the Loire on the evening of the 2019 music festival, in Nantes.

In addition, the results of expertises are expected to try to determine what time and where Steve precisely fell in the Loire.

A reconstitution had already taken place in early October for 4 hours, on the Quai Wilson in Nantes.

It is here that the young 24-year-old extracurricular animator disappeared on the night of June 21 to 22, 2019, before being found drowned in the river more than a month later.

His disappearance had triggered a strong emotion and demonstrations calling for "Justice for Steve".

Three investigated judicial information

It is only once these investigative acts are completed that possible criminal liability can be considered, said the public prosecutor of Rennes. In total, three judicial inquiries "against X" are being investigated in Rennes in this case. One for "manslaughter" concerning the death of Steve, the other for "endangering the life of others", concerning the police intervention, and the third for violence on "person depositary of the public authority "with regard to the taking part of the police.
