The 33-year-old truck driver probably noticed the tractor on the federal highway 412 between Wehr and Weibern (Ahrweiler district) too late, the police said.
The truck hit the rear of the tractor driving in front of it, which was driven by a 56-year-old man.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital.
