Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's Greens want to re-elect their state board at a party conference on the weekend.

The two chairmen Ann-Kathrin Tranziska and Steffen Regis are running again on Saturday in Büdelsdorf (Rendsburg-Eckernförde district).

"After we have made the compulsory years, the finals will now come with the federal and state elections," said Regis on Thursday in Kiel.

Both have been running the regional association since 2017. So far, they have no opposing candidates.

The party had previously set first place in the north as a target in both elections.

"I would say everything is open," said Regis.

After ten years of government, the Greens had proven that they could govern reliably.

"In this respect, we also trust ourselves to be a governor."

There are also constellations that are closer to the Green positions in terms of content than the incumbent Jamaica coalition with the CDU and FDP.

Tranziska questioned that a three-way alliance was always the ideal.

“If there is enough again for this coalition, then it will be so.

And if it's enough for another, where we're getting more content, then it's nice too, "she said.

The two-day party congress, which the majority of the 130 delegates will follow online on Saturday and Sunday, is also about content. On Saturday, the focus is on educational equality, the effects of the corona pandemic on children and young people and work. "We focus on social issues and the world of work," said Tranziska. You will stop to defend yourself against the term people's party.

Regis emphasized, "The problem with the Social Democrats is that they no longer address a lot of people". These are especially those who worked “crooked and humped” in the corona pandemic, such as those employed in retail and care. "They simply deserve political parties to grapple with their situation." The sometimes devastating working conditions in some areas should improve.

The state chairman admitted that the applications on the world of work and education were in parts not specific.

For example, the party wants to invest more money in education at both state and federal level.

Regis cited the dismantling of climate-damaging subsidies and the plugging of tax loopholes as examples of counter-financing.

"The state budgets were extremely strained in the pandemic."

On Sunday it will then be about climate protection, among other things.

Environment Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht will speak about this.

He is a possible top candidate.

Tranziska announced that a proposal for a top candidate for the state election is planned after the summer break.

It is clear that the party leadership will not “pull someone from another federal state out of their hat”.

The Greens will feel the tailwind ahead of the federal elections in September and the state elections in spring 2022 through the nomination of federal chairwoman Annalena Baerbock as candidate for chancellor.

Since then there have been 100 party entries in the north, Regis said.

The Greens currently have 4896 members.

That is about twice as many as in 2017, added Tranziska.
