The commander of the naval forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ali Reza Tangsiri, said that they are closely monitoring all movements of what he called "enemies" in the region and the Gulf waters.

Tangsiri pointed out that all ships - including the US military - are obliged to inform them of their identity and their course of movement before entering the Strait of Hormuz.

The Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, said that Iranian boats had recently approached US naval ships in the Gulf region in an insecure and provocative manner.

General Milli added that the Iranians have a variety of ships and boats to patrol, and they have speed boats, and we also have in that region a variety of naval ships alongside our allies' ships, as well as a large group of commercial ships crossing that area.

He pointed out that there have been some activities from Iranian boats in recent days, and they approached the American ships, considering that this behavior is unsafe and provocative, and that "we are taking appropriate measures to protect ourselves."

For her part, US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said that Iran poses the main challenge to Washington's interests in the Middle East.

Haines added at a hearing of the US Senate Armed Services Committee that Iran seeks to show strength with its neighbors, noting that Iraq will be a battleground for Tehran's influence.
