Munich (dpa / lby) - After the ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court on the Federal Climate Protection Act, Bavaria's SPD leader Florian von Brunn is also calling for consequences for the Bavarian legal situation.

“The Bavarian Climate Protection Act has far greater weaknesses than the Federal Climate Protection Act.

The Bavarian climate measures are diaper-soft and the reduction targets for greenhouse gases after 2030 are completely vague, "said von Brunn on Thursday in Munich.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) would have to improve the “miserable law” immediately because it would never achieve the climate protection goals.

What the state government has presented so far is insufficient in back and front.

“This is a political PR campaign, but not real climate protection.

Markus Söder is no longer allowed to do politics at the expense of our children. "

Von Brunn calls on the state government not only to set concrete reduction targets after 2030, but also to finally implement effective climate protection measures: "This includes the immediate lifting of the wind power stop and a billion-dollar investment package for climate-friendly public transport."

In addition, socio-political flanking is needed, for example through a purchase premium for energy-efficient household appliances.

The Karlsruhe judges obliged the legislature to regulate the reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions for the period after 2030 in more detail by the end of next year.

Constitutional complaints from several climate protectors were in part successful.

The judges declared that the complainants, some of whom were still very young, had violated their rights of freedom as a result of the provisions in the law.

"The regulations irreversibly postpone high emission reduction burdens to periods after 2030."

The Climate Protection Act was passed by the Bundestag and Bundesrat at the end of 2019 as part of the climate package.

For individual areas such as traffic, agriculture or buildings, it specifies how many greenhouse gases they are allowed to emit in which year.
