Offenbach (dpa / lrs) - According to the preliminary results of the German Weather Service (DWD), the Saarland was the warmest region in Germany this April.
In view of an average temperature of 7.3 degrees, however, it was not particularly spring-like warm on the Saar either: As in the rest of Germany, the temperatures remained well below the comparative values of the long-term average (1961-1990).
According to this, the average temperature in April in Saarland would be 8.2 degrees.
In addition, April 2021 was the third frostiest in the history of the Saarland, as the DWD announced on Thursday in Offenbach.
With 35 liters of precipitation per square meter, it was an extremely dry month - the target would have been 64 liters of precipitation per square meter.
The sun, however, was abundant.
With 225 hours of sunshine, Saarland was the two-sunniest federal state - the sun target would have been 155 hours.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, the average temperature in April was 6.5 degrees according to the preliminary evaluation of the DWD measuring stations and thus remained well below the comparative value of 7.8 degrees.
It was said to have been the coldest April since 1986 and the second frostiest since measurements began.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, too, there was only 35 liters of precipitation per square meter, significantly less than the target value of 57 liters per square meter.
With a good 215 hours of sunshine, there was plenty of sunshine.
The setpoint would have been 151 hours.
