Halle / Erfurt (dpa) - Thuringia's Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) has defended a poster of his party in Saxony-Anhalt with the slogan "Take command of the Wessis", according to a media report.

It amused him, said Ramelow of the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" (Friday).

The poster, showing a large dog and a child pulling on a leash, attracted a lot of attention and criticism.

A new state parliament will be elected on June 6th in Saxony-Anhalt.

Ramelow, who himself was born in West Germany and ruled in Thuringia as the only left-wing Prime Minister in Germany, took the matter behind the poster under protection: “But the important thing is the message: The reality of life in the East is such that native West Germans are at many control points sit, ”Ramelow told the newspaper.
