They laid flowers in front of the dormitory, the Thusnelda-von-Saldern-Haus, and remained there in a minute's silence.

Then they went in silence to the area of ​​the diaconal association Oberlinhaus for prayer in the Oberlinkirche in Potsdam-Babelsberg.

Other attendees, including families, were allowed onto the compound by security personnel.

A 51-year-old care worker at the residence is suspected of killing the four residents and seriously injuring another resident on Wednesday.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the Potsdam district court admitted her to a psychiatric hospital on Thursday.

The woman has so far been silent about the act.
