Hamburg (dpa) - After a corona-related cancellation in 2020, the Martha Argerich Festival of the Hamburg Symphony should take place this year.

Twelve concerts are on the program from June 19 to 30 in Hamburg's Laeiszhalle, announced the Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg on Thursday.

The Argentine-Swiss star pianist herself takes part in eleven concerts.

If the current Corona measures allow, tickets are available a few weeks in advance.

In any case, the concerts should be broadcast online at fair prices.

The broadcast is staggered in three time zones of Europe, the USA and Asia.

Martha Argerich will open the festival on June 19, together with Daniel Barenboim and Cecilia Bartoli.

On the second evening she will play Schumann's piano concerto with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of chief conductor Sylvain Cambreling.

On June 21, Anne-Sophie Mutter and Martha Argerich can be seen together on a stage for the first time.

Maria João Pires and the Kremerata Baltica with Gidon Kremer will be guests on the following evenings.

In addition, numerous other well-known musicians will be heard and seen.

The Hamburg Symphony Orchestra has been holding the festival in the traditional concert hall on Johannes-Brahms-Platz since 2018.
