Munich (dpa) - In view of the increase in right-wing extremist acts of violence, the Greens are demanding better recording of right-wing extremist and racist acts in Bavaria.

When presenting their annual situation report on right-wing extremism, the Greens in the Bavarian state parliament on Thursday demanded that a corresponding institution should be created based on the model of the Research and Information Center Antisemitism Bavaria (RIAS) founded in 2019.

Such a documentation center is a contact for those affected and makes attacks public, emphasized the Greens. Furthermore, it is about the care of the victims and the preparation of recommendations for politics. RIAS not only documents anti-Semitic crimes, but all incidents in the area of anti-Semitism. Your reports are therefore to be understood as a supplement to the police crime statistics.

According to the recently presented Bavarian constitutional protection report, the number of crimes committed by right-wing extremists rose to 2,455 in 2020, an increase of almost 17 percent.

The number of right-wing acts of violence had even risen by around a third to 81.

This shows a dangerous tendency, warned the Green spokesman for strategies against right-wing extremism, Cemal Bozoğlu.

There is also a risk in Bavaria of right-wing terrorist attacks.
